Thats right, Nashville Pussy was back in Whistler last night supporting the new album From Hell to Texas, performing at the GLC.
Ruyter Suys kicked some serious ass on the ol guitar as her hubby Blaine Cartwright belted out the tunes.
If you like true rock and roll, the kind that you will never hear on a radio then check them out and buy their shit cause they are the best you will ever hear.
Go see these guys when they come to or near to your town, they are on a Canadian tour right now. Learn a lil something about these guys at http://www.nashvillepussy.com/home

City At Night
For the past couple of weeks I decided to start a new project. Probably one that will never be done, but here are some of the first. The series is going to be called Whistler At Night. The point of it is to take pictures of things that people see every day of their lives but at a time that allmost no one sees or notices if they do see it.
They are all taken between four and six in the morning.

For Sale...Fitz Pub/BBK's
For the first time in over a year I have some of my photo's framed and for sale in town. Once again it is at The Fitz Pub, which used to be called BBK'S. It is located in the Chamoix across from the Chateau, the new owners are great people that allow locals to display their artwork for up to two months at a time.
They are all 13 inches by 19 inches and range from landscapes to band photo's. They are individually priced but ask the bartender for local prices as they are a great deal if you live here.

RIP Jim Marshall
Last Monday Jim Marshall passed away. He is probably the best rock photographer of all time and his photos are a true inspiration for me. His classic pic of Johny Cash flippin the bird is my favorite picture of all time. If I could one day be half as good as him I will die a very happy man.
Here are a couple of his pics, make sure to check out http://www.marshallphoto.com/ to see the rest and maybe pick up one of his books. I plan on buying them with my next paycheque.

Telus In a Nutshell
Wow, Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival is done. Took me a bit to adjust the last lil while, not having any shows to go shoot. All during Telus, Garfinkels Nightclub hired me shoot their events for eight days straight, and it was a blast. From dj's like the guys from Ministry of Sound to Scratch Bastid. Plus Dead Prez, Pharoah Monk, The Deadcats, Son Real and a crazy party put on by the Partysnake guys, it has taken me weeks recover.
Not being a real dj lover, I gotta say that Scratch Bastid was amazing, putting on a real wicked show.
Son Real for me was the undercard for the week and scored a K O. Check him out if you ever get the chance.
The Dead Prez were good, actuallly they were amazing considering Canada Customs held them at the airport for over seven hours. And after all the bullshit they had to put up with to get to Whistler from New York, 4 one show, they were in great spirits. Joking with the crowd and being real, not stopping halfway through a song to ask if someone smokes weed was really refreshing.
Pharoah Monk was the best show of the week, it was a show and a half. They had crowd eating out of the palm of their hands. The really cool thing about it too was that after the show they hung around the bar and partied.
The craziest night was the Partysnake party. Shit was fun that night, from me dealing with the craziest person I have ever met, (she was sure that she could find a door through the brick wall), to half
naked girls dancing on stage, and finally some idiot who thought he wanted to fight me.
I gotta get some sleep. Next show is Bel Rios and local faves The Fall of Summer on May 29th.

New Caffeine Flash
I have been tooling around for a while now with different kind of flash diffusers to use and nothing is really to my liking out there. Plus living in Whistler you have to order stuff through the camera store, which I don't like to do cause you never know if it is what you really need as opposed to what you just think you need. So you can allways go to Vancouver and hit up the camera stores but that just adds at least another $40 to the end price plus your time, and dealing with a lot of citiots sooooo, I decided to just make one.
I drink a lot of coffee and have quite a few coffee containers kicking around collecting change, pens and dust. So why not do something useful with them. This lil guy I call Max, and it took me about five minutes to make plus it kicks serious ass.
Wanting to see right away how it worked, I used myself as the test subject sitting in my lil chair at my computer with the window to my back and a purple sheet/drape, held my 40D in one hand and my flash in the other I snapped two pics.
The first one I call Magenta Rain, my friend thinks it is more Magnum but that one belongs to Zoolander. The second is a look I am still trying to perfect so it doesn't have a name yet. One day it will be ready but not today.
My next project is going to involve a cooler, I saw a picture of one today, and thought it was a wicked idea, just needs to be modified a lil to make it my own.
Just so you know, Max has a patent pending so don't get any ideas of making one yourself, unless it is Folgers or Tim Hortons.

First things first I cleaned it all sweet like, getting all the coffee grinds out of him and then traced the top of my flash onto the plastic lid, then I cut it out with a rusty piece of crap knife and voila, it fit like a glove.
Then I can opened the bottom, grabbed a couple of #4 coffee filters, placed them over the opening, attaching them with a smooth gripping elastic band. Welcome Max!Wanting to see right away how it worked, I used myself as the test subject sitting in my lil chair at my computer with the window to my back and a purple sheet/drape, held my 40D in one hand and my flash in the other I snapped two pics.
